Hi, my name is Elly Mlang’a and I’m the owner and director of Shooting Star Lodge. I was born on mainland Tanzania in a town called Moshi situated in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. After several years living in London and with the generous support of family and friends, I was able to return to Tanzania and realize my dream of building a simple bar/restaurant and B&B called Shooting Star on the north-east coast of Zanzibar.
Over the years, with hard work and much support from loved ones and friends, my small enterprise has metamorphosed from a simple beach bar and banda cottages to the stylish boutique lodge that it is today. Yet the essence of Shooting Star remains the same: a simple, beautiful, tranquil hideaway … a small slice of paradise exclusively for you.
